Stewards of Cat Island - Businesses & Community Efforts for Conservancy & Stewardship
Beginning in February 2012 several individual community members of Cat Island, Bahamas made the transition from discussion to action. The conversation about what could and should be done in order to protect, conserve, & promote Cat Islands natural beauty and wonder has become the foundation for the growing efforts of the businesses, community and leadership as a whole.

Cat Island is an idealic destination for eco and cultural travelers, as well as expert fishermen, cruisers and those longing for a place you HAVE TO unplug from the world while visiting. Cat Islands size and location, rich culture, traditional  sustainable practices past down from one generation to the next; combined with the fact that it is becoming effected  by development and growth, needs the attention and efforts of those who live here and those who visit. As tourism and consumer culture increases in the Family Islands of the Bahamas (as well as in many remote locations around the world) conservancy stewardship must take its place in the planning and practices of the residents, businesses and leadership of these communities. On Cat Island, we are doing this by working with our neighbors and friends to coordinate our efforts - with the goal of acheiving a successful and sustainable community effort to protect our beautiful and sacred Cat Island.
